ZZRC Chimeras - Latte.
Chimeras aka The Motley Crew
Destination - Greatest London Loop.
(The one with a blo**y great bump in it.)
The Motley Crew took on Zwift's iconic 26.1km Greatest London Loop tonight, navigating through London's landmarks from Pall Mall and Trafalgar Square to London Bridge.
With Captain Heath Higgins, MIA, Kiwi Lieutenant Nico was drafted in to lead the charge.
The super seven squad also included Alan Best, Lee Manners, David Keating,Lynn Hunter, regular star guest Jeroen Vervloessem, and Swansea-based newcomer, Jack Wade bringing the Celtic content to three now.
Jack also let slip that he was just back from his honeymoon, so chapeau to our newest crew member for kicking off married life with a new Chimera family.
And Lynn was mostly on mute so we hopefully made a good impression on him.
With Lee slipping into the pen at the last gasp after getting in from work in Liverpool only half an hour earlier, the crew did a great job of getting into line and rotating along the fast and furious first section.
With everyone rallying behind a strong and enthusiastic Jack for his debut it was soon time to cheer on Keats as we took on the climb up the cheeky 1.9km Leith Hill incline ….and he only went and took 8mins off his previous personal best as he did so!
Kia Kaha big guy!!
Then we hit the rapid downhills and the last 4-5km to the finish, with the fastest four - Alan, Jeroen, Lee and Jack - sprinting to the finish line.
Fantastic effort by all and much appreciated .
So how did this Motley Crew do?
Well, we narrowly beat our previous ride on the course (49:25) with a time of 49:10. This places us provisionally at 51 out of 80 teams so far.
