Chimeras hit RGV - or ruthless gear velocity from the motley crew
Tonight's TTT on RGV (Route Grand Vitesse or ‘high speed road’) was fast and furious proving that with a great crew, the 24km route could certainly live up to its name.
Our crew consisted off Lee, Dave, Nicholas, Lynn, Llyr, Jeroen and Heath
As we left the pen, we quickly settled into a strong pace, maintaining a tight line with excellent rotations as we sped through the French countryside. I positioned Llyr at the front, mainly as he’d had tech troubles in his last two outings, and he not only settled us in perfectly but his tech was tip top tonight!
As we rode, Keats expertly directed traffic from the mid-section, helping us to keep our pace on point. But within the first few kms, Nico called out that his discord was a touch glitchy. Hoping that was the extent of our tech worries, we continued on our way, keeping spirits high as we went.
The scenery was picturesque, with rolling hills and sunflower fields and as we reached the aqueduct, Jeroen questioned if we could perhaps pick up the pace a touch. We were flying and his point was made as ticker tape swept the screen to mark sprint PBs from Nico, Lynn and Keats.
However, our momentum was briefly disrupted when Lynn's tech malfunctioned, causing her to lose connection with the team. At one point she was 0.4 behind - we kept steady and she sprinted like she stole something, coming at us like a train.
With everyone on board, we rode the final rolling 9km like a well-oiled machine, crossing the line in 37 minutes - a remarkable 48 seconds faster than our ETA. It was a great team effort, showcasing our resilience, adaptability, power, teamwork and grit.
Thanks again to Llyr and Jeroen for joining us, adding to the team's strength and camaraderie.
